New York on Monday became the latest US state to sue Merck, alleging that the drugmaker misrepresented dangers associated with its painkiller Vioxx.
The suit filed by Andew Cuomo, New York State attorney-general, and Michael Bloomberg, New York City mayor, seeks to recover public funds spent on prescriptions. Merck said New York was the seventh state to file such a suit.
