Petrochemical companies feel the crunch

Thanks to cheap feedstock prices and soaring demand in China and the rest of Asia, profits for Middle Eastern petrochemical companies in recent years have been easy and plentiful.

The deepening of the credit crunch this autumn, however, has hit the region’s petrochemical stocks to the point that they are now among the worst affected, in some cases even exceeding the losses of real estate and financial companies.
