M&S chief turns on sales pitch

Sir Stuart Rose did not let a stand-off with shareholders over his role as both chairman and chief executive of Marks and Spencer get in the way of good old-fashioned showmanship at Wednesday’s annual meeting.

With a salesman’s flourish, he heralded the return of his “clothes rail” as a rail of M&S garments was wheeled on to the stage of the Royal Festival Hall.
