Greece launches bond deal probe

Greece’s central bank is looking at thousands of bond transactions involving state-controlled pension funds amid concern that banks and brokerages may have consistently sold government paper to funds at inflated prices.

Panayotis Thomopoulos, deputy Bank of Greece governor, said in an interview with the Financial Times that central bank officials would scrutinise all bond transactions carried out by pensions funds since 1999.
