Bright minds are bucking the trend

Entrepreneurs never get rich by doing the same as everyone else. Jonathan Steinberg, now chief executive of WisdomTree Asset Management, has spent years thinking about how to build a better index and it seems to be paying off.

He has certainly convinced some serious people of the strength of his ideas. Professor Jeremy Siegel of Wharton University liked the concept of fundamental indexing that Mr Steinberg was pushing so much he become senior investment strategy adviser, while Bruce Lavine was seduced away from Barclays Global Investors to become president and chief operating officer.
