MySpace in talks with record labels to create free online music service

MySpace, the world's largest social networking site, is in talks with leading record companies to create an advertising-supported service that would allow consumers to listen to music for free on their computers.

The company, a division of News Corp, has held discussions with Universal Music, Sony BMG, Warner Music and EMI, according to several people familiar with the matter.
