The pharmaceuticals sector, unloved for years, is suddenly looking attractive again to UK fund managers, following a spate of acquisitions and better than expected results in July.

While most of the investment world has been debating whether to buy or sell commodities and financials, pharmaceuticals has been quietly outperforming relative to other sectors.
