Plans to double the amount of training available to low skilled women to provide a wider range of career choices and help close the pay gap with men were welcomed by unions and equal opportunities groups. But much more needed to be done, they said.
Dave Prentis, general secretary for Unison, said: “We welcome measures to tackle the gender pay gap particularly those targeted at additional training for low-paid women who find themselves stuck in low-value work.”
