Sarkozy threatens to ban ‘golden parachutes’

Nicolas Sarkozy, the frontrunner in France’s presidential election campaign, on Thursday waded into a mounting controversy over executive pay, saying he would pass a law banning golden parachutes for failing company bosses if he is elected.

The candidate, often attacked at home for his free market tendencies, said it was “not normal” that executives who have not been successful should be rewarded with big payoffs.
