Bonds regain US investor appeal

A large-scale shift is under way in the US mutual fund industry as investors shun the safety of low-yielding money market funds for the prospect of higher returns, particularly in bonds.

These latest moves in mutual funds – used mainly by retail investors – are occurring as rock-bottom interest rates and a nascent economic recovery create the confidence to take on more risk, a notable reversal of last year’s flight to safety.
