Russia, EU stall on energy security

The Group of Eight industrialised nations papered over their differences on energy security, declaring a general commitment to “open, transparent, efficient and competitive” markets.

Although Russia made energy security the top theme of its G8 presidency it has made limited progress on the issue. on Sunday it once again refused to ratify the Energy Charter Treaty, which would require it to open up access to its pipelines.
