Seoul seeks new US beef talks

South Korea yesterday demanded renegotiation of a beef deal with the US, bowing to public pressure amid growing fears of mad cow disease.

Seoul was yesterday supposed to complete procedures to lift a five-year ban on US beef but the deal was delayed for a third time as protests intensified after the announcement of relaxed rules on imports of the meat.
