Officials continue push for Liberia relief

Top international officials ramped up the pressure on a group of middle income countries to approve a debt relief package for Liberia following the twice-annual Development Committee meeting of world finance and development ministers.

While officials would not name the countries in question, sources told the Financial Times the countries that had still not approved the plan to clear Liberia’s overdue debts with the International Monetary Fund included Brazil, India, Indonesia, Mexico and Turkey.
