US employment

Perhaps all the optimists were fired. Forecasts for unemployment are gloomy, expecting little moderation in 2010. This is in spite of the US economy growing again, and the jobs market deteriorating at a slower pace – economists expect Friday’s payroll number to show a monthly loss of 175,000 jobs in October, compared with the 600,000 typical earlier this year.
