Toyota rethinks US sales outlook

Toyota, the world’s top-selling carmaker, is considering downgrading its US sales forecast to account for a worsening outlook for pick-up trucks and other big vehicles in its largest market.

The move by the Japanese company – best known for producing small and fuel-efficient cars alongside larger products such as the Tundra truck – underscores how quickly Americans are forsaking large vehicles, at a mounting cost to carmakers.
