Cell study boosts sleep loss data

Sleep, as Shakespeare had it, knits up the ravelled sleeve of care - and sleep deprivation has many adverse consequences - among them memory loss and general cognitive decline.

Researchers at Tufts University near Boston, Massachusetts, believe they have discovered a brain mechanism that helps to regulate sleep and could provide the basis for ways to treat the worst effects of sleep loss.
