Pound rises on positive economic data

Sterling hit a fresh high for the year against the dollar on Wednesday as UK data indicated that recovery in business activity continued.

The pound climbed as high as $1.7008, its best level against the dollar since mid-October, after activity in Britain’s services sector jumped in July.
