Microsoft acquires Giant Software

Microsoft has moved to shore up its defences by acquiring a small anti-spyware company that makes security products to detect and remove unwanted software from Windows-based computers.

The software maker's acquisition of privately-held Giant Software, a US company, was the latest in a series of moves by Microsoft aimed at improving the security of its Windows operating system franchise.
