“Live Free or Die” is the state motto of New Hampshire, a tiny state in the north-east still deeply rooted in a free-market, conservative tradition. On Tuesday, it will assume a king-making status as the second state in the whistle-stop tour of presidential primaries.

This traditionally libertarian state, however, has in recent elections become the swing state “par excellence”.
