Suspects' money trail may not lead to wealth of information

The order to freeze the bank accounts of 19 suspects in the alleged airline bomb plot was issued fast but may have a limited impact if the sums are small, said financial crime experts yesterday.

Financial authorities and banks might find it increasingly hard to track terrorist financing because plots involving British citizens might involve neither international transfers nor unusually large transactions, said people familiar with the banking industry.
