PM signals he will stay on until May elections

Tony Blair on Tuesday sent a strong signal that he will remain in office at least until next May’s local and regional elections by promising to devote the rest of his time in office to trying to end the Middle East conflict.

The prime minister is determined to revive peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians and, following the end of the war in Lebanon, used a trip to the region earlier this month to test the ground.
