Curbs on freedom of information are 'best option'

Proposals put forward by the government to stop over-burdensome requests under the Freedom of Information Act remain "the best option" currently available, according to the minister responsible for the act.

But in an interview with the Financial Times Baroness Ashton attempted to counter criticism that the government's plans will "freeze" the act, preventing new precedents for disclosure being set, while limiting individuals, MPs, companies and big news organisations to one request every couple of months.
