BBC chiefs decide to forgo bonuses

BBC executive board members will forgo their bonuses next year because of the economic crisis, the corporation said on Friday, as its governing body rejected plans for the development of a £68m ($101m) network of local websites.

The BBC Trust also hinted that the corporation might announce budget cuts early next year, saying it had raised concerns about the possible effects of the downturn on the broadcaster.
