Wall Street rallies on banks’ earnings

The S&P 500 rallied for a second session on Thursday and edged back out of bear market territory as better-than-expected results from JPMorgan and another sharp drop in oil prices cheered investors.

The day began in ebullient mood with stocks rising sharply after a number of leading banks and fund managers reported results.
