Australia injects A$1.1bn into healthcare reforms

John Howard, Australia's prime minister, has agreed a national reform agenda with state premiers and territory leaders that includes initiatives to streamline infrastructure regulations and improve healthcare.

After numerous clashes in recent years between the federal coalition government and state Labor governments, the two sides agreed yesterday to a broad strategy to improve economic productivity and the lives of Australians.
