Sir, Your reports on Merrill Lynch’s UK tax position as a result of booking a monstrous $29bn of losses to a UK subsidiary (August 15) highlight the lackadaisical stance of the UK's Treasury and financial regulators as well as Merrill's morality should it take a UK corporation tax holiday for two generations!
