Sir, There is an urgent need to rethink the way insurance is regulated in the US. As Jeremy Grant reports, ("Pressure rises for federal regulation of US insurance", Ft.com, May 27) an "optional federal charter", which would create competition among regulators, has much promise and will be scrutinised in the months ahead.
