Siniora bides his time in the Grand Serail

On a ramp leading to Beirut's Grand Serail, the former Ottoman barracks that now serves as the office of Lebanon's prime minister, soldiers stand guard surrounded by razor wire.

Day after day, loudspeakers blare insults at Fouad Siniora, the Serail's resident, and predict the imminent demise of his government. Children cheer, denouncing the "collaborator".
