Anti-drugs officials raise alarm over rise in Venezuelan traffic

Venezuela is becoming the leading transit country through which the bulk of the world's cocaine is smuggled to the US and Europe, according to foreign law enforcement officers.

Venezuela's growing role in the illegal drugs trade was underscored by the seizure in Mexico last week of 5.2 tonnes of cocaine aboard an aircraft that arrivedfrom Caracas international airport.
