The order books of the world’s leading aircraft makers are bulging. The financial fortunes of Boeing and Airbus have diverged sharply in the past two years, but each has orders worth about five years of production. The duopoly big jet makers are confidently forecasting continuing strong long-term growth in demand for air travel of close to 5 per cent a year.
Boeing forecasts that the world commercial jet fleet will more than double to 36,000 aircraft by 2025.
