FDA ‘failed’ on foreign drug oversight

The FDA came in for heavy criticism on Tuesday as the congressional watchdog warned its response to impurities in Chinese-made medicines would do little to overcome “large gaps” in foreign inspections.

The Government Accounta­bility Office said that with current resources it would take the Food & Drug Administration 13 years to inspect every factory around the world involved in supplying medicines to the US.
