Tchenguiz investment vision lies in tatters

Six months ago, a combative Robert Tchenguiz, nursing heavy paper losses of about £700m on his sizeable stakes in J Sainsbury and Mitchells & Butlers, lambasted their boards for failing to buy into his vision of their companies as property empires.

Now that plan lies in tatters and even in this unforgiving climate there will be board members in those companies saying “amen to that”.
