Plastic Logic, a British company developing plastics for use in consumer electronics technology, is expected on Monday to say it has secured a further $50m (£25.3m) to allow it to pursue plans to sell a new generation of lightweight computer displays that could form the digital equivalent of paper.
The extra finance has come from a consortium of investors which has already put $150m behind Plastic Logic, based in Cambridge. The consortium includes several large companies such as BASF of Germany, the world’s largest chemical group, and the US’s Intel, the biggest maker of microchips.
