UK airport group faces prospect of break-up

BAA's monopoly over leading airports in London and Scotland is harming passenger interests, the UK competition watchdog has concluded, raising the prospect that it will force the company to sell some assets.

The Competition Commission will next week unveil plans for possible reforms to ownership and regulation, focusing on the lack of rivals to BAA in the capital and in Glasgow and Edinburgh, people involved in the matter say.
