Crisis creates opportunities for mergers

One of the chief casualties of the global financial crisis is the mergers and acquisitions business. This is especially the case in the banking sector.

While there are many lessons from the crisis, one must surely be that banks such as Citigroup, Fortis or Royal Bank of Scotland were too big to be managed or regulated satisfactorily, and that we cannot afford to see their likes again.
