Five turns to prime time from daytime

The decision by Five, one of Britain’s free-to-air broadcasters, to axe a popular daytime chat show is the latest symptom of the problems currently facing commercial broadcasters in the UK.

The channel, owned by RTL, the European broadcaster, announced late last week that after four years of hosting Trisha Goddard’s eponymous daytime talk show, it had decided to spend the money elsewhere.
