The EU and US have offered more temporary work visas for skilled professionals, in a bid to maintain momentum in the "Doha round" of trade talks.
The negotiations made an unexpected spurt of progress on Friday, and talks continued over the weekend on cross-border services trade - often a neglected part of the negotiations. The EU signalled that it was willing to set a new quota of 80,000 workers and the US also said it would discuss the issue within Doha.
