Sarkozy weighs US and Europe

A diplomat, they say, is someone who thinks twice before saying nothing.

By that measure, Nicolas Sarkozy was probably wise to have pursued a career outside the French diplomatic service. The impulsive Mr Sarkozy happily shoots off ideas about everything – occasionally giving the impression that he has not stopped to think once, let alone twice.
