Out of Africa and into the eurozone

The recent emergence of South African companies in the European high-yield bond market is breaking up these corporations’ historical dependence on their domestic banks.

Foodcorp, the food producer, and Cell C, the country’s third-largest mobile phone operator, became the first South African companies to access the high-yield market last month, [JUNE] proving that companies could attract demand despite operating far away from the investors’ base.
