Proposal gives SEC power over pay on Wall St

The Securities and Exchange Commission will have the power to review and ban compensation schemes at brokers, dealers and investment advisers under beefed-up powers proposed by the US Treasury.

On Friday the Treasury outlined legislation that it said was part of a “push to establish new rules of the road and make the financial system more fair for consumers and investors”.
