Rice visits Iraq to urge steps on sectarian strife

Condoleezza Rice, US secretary of state, made a surprise visit to Iraq on Friday to urge Iraq’s political parties to bridge sectarian differences, with no respite in violent attacks across Iraq just five weeks before parliamentary elections.

“I want to talk about the importance of reaching across the sectarian divide, and the future of Iraq has to be one which includes everyone,” Ms Rice said.
