Icelandic bank's Birmingham operation in doubt

The future of the Birmingham office of Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander has been thrown into doubt after the British government nudged the Icelandic bank's whole UK business into administration last week.

The Treasury said the move, which followed a spat between the British and Icelandic governments over deposit guarantees, would help protect UK depositors.
