Opec cuts supply as oil prices tumble

Commodity markets were engulfed in another wave of selling this week as investors headed for the exit amid mounting fears that a global recession would follow the crisis in financial markets.

Oil prices fell sharply on Friday even as Opec attempted to stabilise the market by announcing a supply cut of 1.5m barrels a day at an emergency meeting in Vienna.
