Russia keeps up Kosovo pressure

As arguments rage about Russia’s “peacekeeping” role in Georgia, Moscow has vowed to keep up a parallel diplomatic battle in the United Nations against Kosovo’s western-backed independence from Serbia.

The UN mission that governed the disputed Balkan territory for nearly nine years before Kosovo’s independence declaration six months ago is to start downsizing to make room for a police and justice mission led by the European Union.
