Credit prospects brighten in Japan

The Bank of Japan announced that bank lending rose 0.4 per cent in September in a further sign that credit contraction in Japan could be drawing to a close.

It was the second consecutive monthly rise and the strongest performance since the central bank started compiling figures in 1998.
