Pelosi urges Beijing to allow probe

The speaker of the US House of Representatives on Friday demanded that China allow an international investigation into the violent unrest in Tibet and said the situation there was a “challenge to the world’s conscience”.

Nancy Pelosi delivered a strong show of US support for the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan Buddhist leader, who has been accused by the Chinese government of organising the protests and rioting which began last week.
