Cattles shuts 30 branches in new focus

Cattles, the troubled subprime lender, is to close 30 of its Welcome Financial Services branches across the UK, affecting 510 jobs, as part of its plans to rein in new lending and concentrate on debt collection.

The news comes as the group negotiates a “standstill” agreement to suspend payments to its bondholders, having agreed a similar deal with banks six weeks ago.
