Conti accuses Schaeffler of merger block

Two of Germany’s largest car parts suppliers were at odds again on Wednesday when Continental’s chief executive accused Schaeffler, its main shareholder, of blocking a planned merger.

In a letter to Schaeffler’s family owners, Karl-Thomas Neumann, Conti’s chief executive, alleged its shareholder tried to scupper the merger with incorrect assumptions about the company’s value and a reluctance to agree to key points.
