Seagate chief and potential successor resign

Seagate Technology, the world’s largest maker of computer disk drives, said on Monday, its chief executive and his potential successor had left the company, which has been hit as demand for high-technology components softens.

Bill Watkins, chief executive since 2004, and David Wickersham, president and chief operating officer, have both resigned from the Silicon Valley company. Mr Wickersham had been seen as a candidate to succeed Mr Watkins.
