ITV fined £6m over phone-in irregularities

ITV was fined nearly £6m ($12m) on Thursday – a new record – over “grave” and repeated irregularities in premium-rate phone-in programmes.

Further questions were raised by a report suggesting that a comedy award may have been fixed in favour of the comedy duo Ant and Dec. The Serious Fraud Office said it was considering whether to launch a full inquiry.
